Now that the NAMM 2014 booths have been broken down it’s time to look back at all the announcements and product launches that took place. NAMM’s first official day proved to be the most hectic with one exciting new launch following shortly after one another. Here are our favourite new products from NAMM 2014. Elektron Analog Rytm Shortly before the conference took place, Elektron teased a new hardware box. It turned out to be a new 8-voice analog drum machine with sample support called the Analog Rytm. Next to the signature performance step sequencer the Analog Rytm also provides 12 […]
More competition for the likes of iMPC and Beatmaker 2, as UVI is working hard on its iOS debut with their MPC-inspired UVI BeatHawk app. The UVI developers were at NAMM where Sounds and Gear shot the video below. The app seems to feature a signature UVI soundset as well as a smart way of handling patterns and song building. The release of BeatHawk is said to be in a few months as there is still a lot of functionality to implement.

Audiobus developer Sebastian Dittmann gave Audiofanzine a quick overview of the new stuff in Audiobus 2 at the NAMM conference. Check out the video below where he showcases adding multiple Audiobus chains (available as an IAP) as well as saving them as a preset in the app.

Just like Apogee earlier, IK Multimedia updates their iOS microphone to a higher quality version today. The iRig Mic HD features a 44.1 – 96 kHz sampling rate and what’s new in the HD versus the regular iRig Mic is a internal preamp and analog to digital converter, allowing you to capture a digital 24-bit signal into your laptop or iOS device. The iRig Mic HD comes with a Lightning and USB connection cable, for respectively connecting it to newer generation iPhones / iPads or your Mac / PC. Features • Only digital mic to support all popular mobile, laptop […]
The BeatStep is a new pad controller / sequencer from Arturia that somehow reminds me of my beloved OP-1, footprint-wise. With its 16 back-lit pads you can either lay down a dynamic drum performance or switch to sequencer mode and enable / disable each pad in a 16-step sequence. You can then use the 16 available encoders for controlling the pitch of each individual pad. Outside of the sequence mode the encoders can serve a variety of functions all tailored to realtime performance changes. You can store and recall up to 16 sequence patterns. For connectivity there are MIDI, USB, […]
